How to make wedding table numbers

Table numbers tell guests where to go after they have found their name on the seating chart. They are the simplest part of the day to get wrong, because each card is read from a few steps away. Choose how many tables you have, pick a size and a style, check the preview, and download a PDF with one card on each page.

Card sizes: 4 × 6 or 5 × 7 inches

SizeWhat it suitsHow it prints
5 × 7 inPhoto frames and larger holdersOne card per page, page size equals card size
4 × 6 inSmall stands and compact holdersOne card per page, page size equals card size

Because each page is the size of the card, you can send the PDF to a print shop and ask for 4 × 6 or 5 × 7 prints on card stock, or print at home on photo paper of that size. Measure your holders first.

Step by step

  1. Enter the number of tables. The cards read “Table 1”, “Table 2” and so on, with the number large.
  2. Change the first number if your tables do not start at 1.
  3. Or type names, one per line, for tables with a name instead of a number. A name that is not “Table” plus a number is printed as it is.
  4. Pick a style. The Proof style is free; the other four come with the Event Pass.
  5. Download the PDF and print one test card before the whole set.

When the numbers do not work

Very long names shrink to fit the card, down to a third of the starting size, so a short name reads better from a distance than a long one. Tables beyond 100 are not supported on one sheet. The free PDF carries a small watermark line inside each card; if you do not want it, the Event Pass removes it.

Table numbers or a seating chart with names?

You need both. The table number is what a guest looks for once they know their table; the chart or the A to Z list is how they find it. The seating chart generator makes the poster and the list from one guest list, and the place cards put the name and table on a card at each seat.

Frequently asked questions

Are the wedding table numbers free?

Yes. You can make as many cards as you need and download the PDF without paying. The free PDF has a small “Made with seating-chart-generator.com” line on each card, and the free style is Proof, a black-on-white serif. The Event Pass removes the line and unlocks four more styles.

Which size should I choose, 4 × 6 or 5 × 7 inches?

Both come as one card per page, so any print shop or home printer can use them. 5 × 7 in is the larger card and fits a bigger frame or holder; 4 × 6 in fits a small holder. Check the holder you own before you print the whole set.

Can I use names instead of numbers?

Yes. Type one name per line in the box under the table count, for example “Sweetheart table” or a family name, and each line becomes a card. The names replace the numbers.

Do the table numbers match my seating chart?

They do when you use the same tables. The planner on the home page makes table number cards from the tables of your chart in its Table numbers tab, and renamed tables carry their new names.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The cards are made in your browser. Nothing you type here is sent to a server.
